Oatmeal Raisin Cookies

  • 1 cup shortening.
  • 1 cup sugar.
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar.
  • 2 eggs.
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract.
  • 3 cups old-fashioned oats.
  • 1 1/2 cups all purpose flour.
  • 1 tsp baking soda.
  • 1 tsp salt.
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts.
  • 1/2 cup golden raisins.


  1. Preheat oven at 375 ºF .
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream shortening and sugars Beat in eggs and vanilla. Combine the oats, flour, baking soda and salt; gradually add to creamed mixture.
  3. Drop by tablespoonfuls 2 in. apart onto ungrased baking sheets.
  4. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until golden brown.
  5. Remove to wire racks to cool.
